Turnaround times and diplomacy

At first it sounds like the game flow is much to slow, but after some 10 turns you'll find out it is not. The first five turns can be a bit boring, because these are usually played quickly and are spend setting the base of your realm. These few turns can be fun when you like map making, exchanging intel and gathering players within a religion. After 5 important turns the wars usually start and the game gets interestingly. Unless, maybe, your opponents manage to bring war on you bigtime :(

The game within the game..

A lot of this game is played inbetween turns. When you forge alliances and carefully plan your next orders. You'll probably keep a western neighbour a friend as long as you have no clue what other players live in your western direction. While you carefully plan an attack against your eastern neighbour after you found out he is surrounded by at least two of your religious allies who will gladly join the pounding. You might manage to take on several players at a time but it is so much easier to bash opponents out with some allies.

You can use the internal messaging orders to communicate with other players and you can meet other players on the forum. Keep in mind this is really just a game. There are quite some addicts around who might sometimes forget this is all just a game. Yes this game can seriously get to you once you manage to do well. At first this will be hard to believe, but once you're well on your way this game can be overly addicitive, don't say we didn't warn you!

Most players will use their rpg skills to play diplomacy but don't let your mind be fooled, it is not uncommon for good to team up with evil. Diplomacy sometimes can get really dirty.

Diplomacy and communication, a little or a lot?

If you don't want to spend much time on communitcation you just join an interesting religion and do some small communication with it and maybe some neighbour. If you like diplomacy and communicating a lot, you should run for HighPriest. many highpriests talk diplomacy on world level and forge plans with other religions to overthrow yet another.
