Wizards

If you're a wizard with numbers we can probably use your help to come up with beter algorithms or formulas to calculate the outcome of battles, enrich the economy system of trade, etc etc

An example: There are quite some formulas and algorithms needed for the magic system:

Spell Casting

If someone casts a spell we need to find out if this spell succeeds. And when it succeeds we have to find out wether the target is affected. There are many parameters that play a role in those successes and we do need neat formulas and algorithms to make them work as good and realistic as possible.

Parameters for spellcasting success:
Magic% of casters race, Level of caster, # of additional formulas known of spell cast, ingredients used, range of target,

Result:
The casting of a spell will result in a number specifying the amount of succes.
If this amount is not high enough a spell will fizzle. If this amount is dangerously low a spell might even backfire on the caster. If this number is 100 or higher the spell is succesfully cast.

Parameters for effect:
%succesful spellcasting, ingredients, magic resistance, vulnerability of target, size of target

Parameters for Backfire
Meaning the spell will not be cast on the target but instead will be cast upon the caster itself !
Amount of spells cast (leftover mana) %succesful spellcasting, ingredients, magic resistance, vulnerability of caster, size of caster

Amount of Spells
Each PC and magic wielding hero is only able to cast a limited amount of magic spell each turn. The amount of spells depend on the following parameters:

Level of caster Magic% of casters race and Leftover previous turn.

A caster doesn't clearly know his limit. Magic users generally have a rough feeling of what he or she is capable of. However they might try to push their known limits. Pushing those limits will probably mean that he or she will be able to cast more spells but the chance causing a backfire will be much greater.
