What is a War Game

A wargame is a game where players take the commanding role of an amry.
Miniatures markers or computergraphics usually represent the units of these armies. Maps are used to indicate the environment in which these military units must function. The player of a wargame moves his or her markers as desired within the limits of the game (each game specifies such things as how far a unit may move in a given turn, range of fire, damage). By maneuvering his or her pieces on the map, the player seeks to gain victory in the battlefield against the other player(s) forces. Strategy, tactics and a bit of luck luck (many games use rolling of dice to resolve combat) all come into play in these games.
Wargames started out as boardgames, the bigger ones are played on huge tables with beatifull handpainted miniatures and homemade landscapes. There are wargames in many different forms, some love to replay historic battles while others fight fantasy or science fiction battles.

Since development of computergames wargames have found their way to pc. In the early days we mostly saw turn based strategy games, nowadays we mostly see Realtime Strategic games (RTS). In the early days the computers where not fast enough to provide you with RTS. RTS has the advantage of being fast, but that also gives you less time to think about your moves and it is almost impossible to use communication to forge alliances and involve into other diplomatic actions. Usually a RTS is all about very few players competing against each other with one victorious one. In our game you'll compete against many more players and you won't make it on your own.
